It is about never losing faith, of hanging on no matter how small the glimmer of hope my be. I finished the first part in screenplay form yesterday. It was around 138 pages. Working on the second episode. Either it will be a movie or animation...a trilogy or a series. The greatest pleasure of Raven's Light is participating in the journey of it with your characters. They become real. My editors and family talk about them as if they live down the street or family members. Music is the key. I am listening to the soundtrack of Skyrim for more the action parts and traveling. I discovered this group from Spain called Narsilion. OMG, they are etheral/ambient dreamlike fairytale of beauty and sadness. Their song "A Night In Fairyland" fits so perfect with the most dramatic scenes in Raven's Light/episode I. I cried three days listening to that and writing the scene.I had spent my whole life to be a novelist. In 1990 that dream was taken from me when I had a car accident and was in a coma for three weeks. I had periods of writing briefly, twice, and now it is upon me again. I am terrified it will go away. I hope it stays with me now...that after all these years a part of my brain has healed enough that I can continue to create new stories. I lost like 8 books and have draft remains of two. Sigh. So, I hope with Raven's Light, this will be my work that survives and becomes published. All that I ever said in the other books, I get to say now. I may have lost a big perfect of my vocabulary and knowledge of all the other works I have read...but now I write a more simple prose that goes to the point and is honest and true.

Between Mortal and Divine

I know the difference between Mortal and Divine.....from what I see with my imagination...to what comes out on the canvas. Today is the creation of "Illuminison." It is an art movement focusing on the Divine's illumination through nature as a counter movement to the current state of gloom and hopeflessness from the current worldwide state of affairs in politics, religious wars, economic losses, and natural disasters. The world is in a state of darkness and it is time to reawakened the Light of the human spirit. May "Illuminism" remove the veil of darkness so people may see to inspire hope and a sense of peace there is a living Light of the Divine for all mankind and living creatures.

Wall Photos
..

Like · · Share · 23 hours ago near Charlotte.

Bill Evans, Carole Palmeter, Linda Mlecsko and 12 others like this..

View 1 share

Stefan Duncan Two years ago, I had like a voice that sounded in my head that it was no longer good enough to simply say my mission was to put a painting in a person's home right in the heart of where they live to be inspired and given hope through my painting. It was time to rise to a worldwide platform. Where darkness struck whether wearing the face of natural disasters or a terrorist attack, where darkness fell, I am to do a painting of that place and fill it back with Light. That we, as a people of the world, have had enough of reigining terror and darkness. No longer will be be forced to live in darkness...but to live with the Light within us and in all things that exist created by the Divine of Light. The pendulum has swung to its darkness point and now it's time to get it swinging the other way. It is emotion and energy created with passionate strokes so the painting communicates with the viewer. It brings a combination of self experience and what the artist seems to be expressing. It is a melody conducted by the artist and the viewer with their own instrument of experience joins in the melody.... It is a great work that a viewer can participate emotionally with a creation by an artist. It is a melody or symphonic movement the viewer joins with natural ease and joins in play and moves with the artist in unison like a flock of birds making a turn.

What a day. Woke up at 6 a.m. and begin doing work on the internet. At 11 a.m. met Carol, personal assistant, at Charlotte Art League. We pulled out, took down, listed and numbered, photographed, restacked, over 100 paintings today. I get home at midnight. Suppose to send photos of the paintings in Grandfather's Dream because the resolution is not good enough. If my 12.3 pixel can't do it, then a professional will have to.
Dee finally returned home after she collapsed the other day. She had a stress related cogulated migrane that masked her sypthoms of a massive stroke.

Sigh, just lost a whole page. One more time:

Yesterday was crazy...at the worse moment... standing in parkinglot by car answering phone...corner of door bangs against ankle. Just come from driving to several places looking for my wallet. Get a call from Drui that publsihers need me to reshoot about 25 paintings for the pictures in Grandfather's Dream. I don't have half of the paintings and the other half, some are at different locations...sigh....and yesterday, while finishing up a convention in Corncord, N.C., I get a message that Dee Aughtman, who I have relations, collapsed at work, unable to move or speak and is taken to ICU, thoughts are that she has had a massive stroke.

Earlier, my agent in California, Danielle Arnaud, calls all excited that someone has paid 1.5k directly into her Paypal account for a painting posted on her website. I love listening to Danielle because she has a France accent. Everytime she calls, I have to put her on speakerphone for everyone around me to hear her. I feel so like an artist when she calls. Well, she is so excited telling me this and when she tells me which painting, my heart just dies... I had recently already sold the painting. So, this was what was going on yesterday.

Fortunately, I found my wallet; Dee had a migraine attack that masked for a stroke; I had a similar painting in my personal collection we are sending photo to buyer hoping they will like this one in place of the one already sold.

Sunday afternoon: Going to studio to reshoot photos for Grandfather's Dream. Work on inventory.

Several weeks now I have been blessed to have Carol Duncan, who happens to share my same last name, has taken the role as my personal assistant. She already holds a fulltime job and somehow puts in as many hours a day into my art. She is working on inventory, newsletter, twitt, facebook, finding events for me to do, communicating with event cordinators, creating a calendar, keeping commissions straight, taking info for buyers and fans, working on the contact list, telling me each day what pasture to graze.

It has been an unbelievable two weeks. It has taken me six months to get my life back into motion again, recovering from a relationship that had nearly cost me everything and the economy hitting. Instead of losing faith, I pulled myself up by the shoestrings and had the confidence that God would see me through. I have been working night and day and having Carol stepping in, sales started up again. Received a huge commission and been making literally a sale a day that has lifted me from the worry zone. I feel so blessed to do what I love for a living.

I am more determined than ever to do my mission I feel God has asked me to do - to give the world more Light through my paintings. I feel that I am in a way a kind of missionary.

Last Friday I was asked to talk about my life and what led me to become the artist I am today. The response I received was heartfelt. Several paintings were sold. From the last several weeks I have been adding the meanings and symbolism of my paintings to them when I post them on the internet. Been getting alot of feedback that my words were as strong as my paintings and I should put the two together. And after my talk, Carol and others thought I should start doing more talks at events because they are inspirational and motivational.

My goal is to become successful with my work so that it is seen around the world and respected in the art world.

May each of my paintings be like a dart that pierces the sky above, letting a little of the Divine Light trickle down. And after my death, may all my paintings form into a constellation in the sky so that generations to come will continue to see God's Light.

I am working as hard or harder today than when I discovered what my mission was over 12 years ago. I live to paint and paint to live. 100 percent artist. Everyday since my near death has been a given extention of life. I want to feel that at the end of my life I have left a great work behind that will continue to live after I am gone, works that will have impact and influences on the viewers that inspires faith, serenity, and love. That after a viewer looks at one of my paintings, they can move their gaze outdoors and see the Divine's Living Spirit and Light in nature as I have.

Sunday. Yesterday had a hour of not finding my wallet; worried over a purchase of a painting that had already been sold had a painting from personal collection of the same one so presenting to buyer to see if they would like this one in place of the other; Lois said publishers for Grandfather's Dream needed me to reshoot all of my paintings for a better resolution. Dee collasped at work. She was taken to ICU. She could not move or talk. I was told it appeared she had a massive stroke. Then later in the night started getting texts from her. Her mind seemed intact. And as time passed, she seemed to be getting better. MRI yesterday showed she had this magrine that masked as a stroke. This painting depicts 'Little Tree' in Dru's book, 'Grandfathers Dream'. The Spirit of transformation between Mother Earth and Human Spirit- capturing the essence

"The Spirit of transformation between Mother Earth and Human Spirit." In a way I guess that is what I have been trying to do with my art, uniting human and nature spirit together, thining the veil between the two... transcendence of human spirit with Mother Earth Spirit. Like being strands of musical notes or melodies the other can not hear unless you really open yourself up and listen....and then you discover that everything has a musical phrase and it's all interweaved into this massive all encomposing universal symphonic movement.

Lois Chazen Now...that is music to my ears! Out of body Souls only need the encomposing symphonic movement and vibration throughout the dimensions and we are all connected- from the lower to the upper- we are all ONE and the sooner human Beings underst...and this and also understand that in being ONE with our Creator means that we are ONE with each - we would find the Heaven on Earth as those who pray- pray for!

Oh, I will. I decided I am going to doing another series called "Ascension" because I do not think I created one painting for that exhibited series that expressed what I was trying to do. I'll do a painting of this in the series, then I am going to push myself past my limit what I want to create: beautiful figures ascending in exaltation into Heaven.

I want Ascension to be my most sacred series. I did not post one painting from the first "Ascension" series because there wasn't a single one that reached the height of what I wanted to express in it. But, with this new revision of "Ascension" I will. I imagine I will be starting on this around March after I return from an island I hope to spend a couple of weeks.

A truly successful painting to me is one that inspires "awe" from the viewer. I want paintings that demands the viewer's attention and gives them the impression that the painting was Divinely inspired. I wish I had the talent to create the beauty I visualize in my mind.

Van Gogh taught me you can see the Divine's Living Spirit in nature. Mozart taught me you can hear the angels sing if you quiet yourself. Now if I can put the two together in a painting...then that is a painting I would feel more worthy of my expression of God's glory.

Today going to finish up Lois's painting and need to work very hard and long on new paintings that have the "awe" affect. Or a Van Gogh whose life and works remained undiscovered? Does having true love or acceptence in the world really matter at all compared to what our faith hopes to believe is the Glory of God? Should we grieve and fret and scorn a world or even God for our hurts, our broken hearts, our disappointments or fate we deemed is jinxed and daggered with attempted loves with others? Or, through the chaotic cacophony of life, if we deafen ourselves to it, can you hear the sweet choir of angels sing of unconditional love and acceptence to our everlasting souls, where a greater glory awaits us? Is this just a folly, a dream or belief to aspirn the agony our fragile heart's expereinces and endures? Are we glorious blooming trees whose peaks will fade into fallen leaves that will be forgotten, trodden by time and life itself, to be crumbled decaying brown colorless leaves upon the ground? And yet I paint onward, I paint the Glory of God through the blooming trees and Light. I paint because I have to because when I paint I am a musical note swept away in the symphonics of the angels transcended, never knowing if anything I have done will be remembered or will ever have any sustaining impact to the world after I have fallen like a tree amidst a forest unheard. I paint because I have to...it sates the yearning in my soul this need to express the Glory of God, the Faith, the Hope to the world.

Uprooted tree

Adriene and Ascension Painting

On a March 6, I was leaning against my motorcycle outside of Mac's on South Blvd., Charlotte, when out of the crowd, the most beautiful woman I have ever seen walked up. She was wearing jeans and a white tank top. "Can you give me a hug?" she asked. With that hug, my life has changed forever. I had a friend that was meeting me at the place and I had to leave this angel. I never knew if I would see her again. I went back the following day. When I walked inside Mac's, I saw her sitting. My heart raced. She turned and saw me. Her face lite up and that was when I was struck with this kind of awe...for at that moment I knew....I had finally found my Lake Waccamaw girl. Her eyes were green as emerals, green as the lake that I wished upon when I was 11 years old to find my lady of the lake. There is this inner beauty that radiants from those eyes...it's like a pure heart joy of an innocent girl. I fell in love with her that instant. Every moment with her is joy. She makes life magical. She's my Muse and Love of My Life. She is Adriene.

There were some very dramatic and challenging moments that came in the following weeks. There were several times I thought we would never be together. Those were very sad days for me. I could not wrap my mind around why she had appeared in my life - my Waccamaw Girl, that I had asked the Divine to bring into my life - to only be taken away right at the moment I was launching myself into the most spiritual exhibit I have yet to create.

I began my Ascension series and began a painting from one of her poses. I played the music from Staind. A tear followed every brush stroke. I did her body first then I was going to kind of fuse her into a tree as I do with my other tree people paintings....but I stopped and looked at what I had done and could not touch it again. It caught her sublime beauty. A friend came over and I asked them what they thought of the painting. She said it was a beautiful woman that is so deeply loved, but to touch her caused pain. And I thought, wow, that was how I was feeling while I did the painting. I had never done a painting of browns and purple before. There is that Light in the painting, almost a smear of light....that still showed from behind an approaching wall of black clouds. It was hope remaining. The name of the painting is "The Agony and the Estcasy."

And on a Friday night during a gallery crawl, I told my manager and PR/marketer I had to go. I rode my bike to Mac's. I sat on top of a long bench seat and I waited, sometimes glancing at that spot where we first met. I felt her presence. It was like smelling ozone in the air before an approaching storm. Or catching a whiff of Jasmine in the air, letting you know right around that corner was going to be a big bush of them. My phone rang. "You at Mac's? I'm coming."

Upcoming Exhibits

Nov. I want to devote my full attention to "Ascension" and I will not ascend from the studio until I have some completed works and well on my way. I created a page on the website that explains ASCENSION.

"The idea of Ascension for my works is the exalted state of elation before entering the eternal spiritual realm of Heaven. After hardships overcome by perseverance and hope, it is the time between realization of faith confirmed and entering the Heaven dreamth a lifetime., " Stefan Duncan. (The paintings may be symbolic of any adversity overcome and the elation of victory.)

"May Divine inspiration enter my mind, heart, and brush as I begin the most sacred project I have ever done." Though the first exhibit may consist of 30 paintings, this project will be ongoing like a Walt Whitman poem. My dream is to create a painting that "awes" as if it was the burning bush." And long after I have departed, I hope these paintings will inspire hope and exaltation in the hearts of generations to come." Liz was the first person to buy a painting from me in 2001. She and her husband have a beautiful home and invite their art collector friends and associates connected to art galleries.

We got there on Friday night. We setup on Saturday morning in time for the 4 inch rain to come for the next 24 hours. We had six groups of people that were going to buy art not to show. We only sold one painting, but had alot of interest. Next morning, we contacted those close by that couldn't come to come and snatched a few neighbors in the area and the day after the show we sell eight paintings. We left two behind for two of our previous collectors that could not make the show. Faye, who we met at the first show six months ago, bought the portrait of her as a tree. Her husband is one of the managers for WestWood Country Club and we are preparing to submit proposals for a commission in the club and to also possibly do a show in Feburary.

This "Luminous" was the highest income of any of my shows. Thanks Bill and Liz!!! We will be doing another show in Feb. around the same weekend of the WestWood show... if all goes according to plan.

Events in last weeks.

Went to Hilton Head with Roger to kayak. Had to park the car beside the road and carry our boats in. We paddled into Dove Cove. The water was only several feet and we could see the bottom. There were carp the length of my elbow to my arm moving around in schools. There were several turtles. You can see plumes of dust rise from the bottom as fish were startled by our presence.

Once we moved into the main channel we headed up river against the wind and current. We traveled several miles and found a branch off of the water. The passage was narrow, the length of our boats and you could not turn in a circle but had to do like three point turns. Over hanging branches cast rays of light on the water that were refracted into more rays that illuminated the bottom in patches. Yellow and purple flowers, with the occassional red flower dotted the banks. You can see the schools of fish. The crickets are loud. We paddled north but stopped maybe a mile or so from the Latte Planation area. We headed back. The current seemed to have died with the wind. It started to get hoter, around 130 p.m.

The little off shoot branch we had traveled down was pretty amazing. You had the feeling few have ventured into this. Roger had his map and of course I brought the wrong one.

Roger is always on the go. He does more in one week of events than I do in a year. He is at least 100 times more better off financially than I, (I hope so.. which is a good thing if he is a financial advisor) ..... he has the bigger and newer cars, a wonderful home... So when I can get like a compass or a boat light added to my boat that he does not have... I am bursting with pride. It's a little joke..... and of course.... Roger sees what I have added... so then he gets it....so now I have to find something else new he doesn't have. :).

Aug. 27...Aug 25th New River, Va/Nc. And a "live" event there this coming weekend I think?....

Mom had kind of a rough day with pain. Sees doctors on Monday.

Raven is wild as ever, leaping, dashing, chewing, yelping, charging.... signs of a happy-hyper pup. Today I got one of those laser lights and shine the dot on the floor and cry, "Squirrel!" and Raven darts toward it and chases it around the room. Cleaning lady was here today and I'm trying to keep everything the way she left it.. but kind of hard with huricane raven alias transmanian devil....

Today we went to Lake Norman, launching off at a T... park there. We paddled several miles, more like me paddling five times as much as Roger doing these easy graceful strokes. Stopped at the bar/restuarant there, then dashed for the home stretch. The landing was far from the parkinglot and we had to lug the boats a little ways. The water was very warm and still except for the waves by a passing boater. There is a tiny island out there with a couple of trees that I took a photo of and will do a painting.

Tuesday we launched off at Zoola's in Va. and took the New River South Fork. It was a 10 mile paddle. We ran into some 1's and 2's rocks and were literally pulled downstream most of the way. There were some incredible views of the mountains in the background... some trees on the bank and flowers. We passed an old house with broken windows and long johns hung to dry on the porch.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://stefan-duncan.blogspot.com/2009/08/aug-27aug-25th-new-river-vanc-southfork.html' title='Aug. 27...Aug 25th New River, Va/Nc. Small little gathering with several artists and some of her friends from two to four today. May have a potential buyer to meet with us next week. Been kind of stiffled this week for inspiration with the question about the house, my pc, then my camera breaking down, then yesterday with the car accident. Mary is driving. We are going to the Charlotte Art League to pick up paintings, go back home, then go to Atlanta to the art gallery where we will have some people coming. All is good. We get to intersection of Ole Concord and N.Tryon. Light turns green. We pull into the intersection and a young girl going about 45 to 50 slams into the driver side bythe tire. Mary has hurt ribs and arm, her lower back hurts. I bumped my head, twisted my right arm and of course my left hip, and neck. I took some photos of the car. The young girl, while we were doing last talks with the police officers started putting her cell phone inches from my face and taking photos. Officer asked what she was doing, she said she wanted to show I had no bruises on my face so Iwould not sue her. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Officer explained the insurance companies will be dealing with the accident and all and that we will probably never see each other again. Mary's beautiful car she loved so dearly looks to be totaled. We cancelled the Atlanta trip and probably lost a thousand dollars or more.

Studying everything I can of Picasso trying to learn his magic and marketing. "What's Lost will be Found Again."

Sold a painting with a child's face over the tree. A woman said that was her departed child and got teary=eyed. A lady from metrolina asked if we would like to create a gallery in her live in work station on Walker Street in Atlanta. We did, getting there fourth friday of the month and set up two hours after getting there. Sold one painting with promise of other sells but had a nice turn out. It was a real hard drive back. Left like 1130 in the morning. Mary and I stopped at breaksfast at IHOP and got home around 530 a.m.

During the show, "Blaze of Twilight" was shown for the first time. I had her in the corner but strangely every person that entered or group went to that painting and spoke about the tree and the contrast and how it really stood out. We decided not to sell her and just keep her. In the three weeks since, I have two commissions on her. One of them is from Steinvern? they have bought several paintings from me. 14 coins for gambling, 25 years with yellow leaves for knowing each other.

Last week had two sisters walk into the studio at Charlotte Art League. One bought a 2,500 painting and the other commissioned me to do one for her.

March at Metrolina, a lady last name of Bruno said saw me on tv and wanted to commission me. her husband to be is the pit crew boss for a famous nascar racer. Anyway I am doing a 52 by 52 tuscony landscape with a "Charlotte Heart Ball" tree painting and some dates hidden for her special people. She is also having a fundraiser for leucimea...??? letting us set up paintings in her house. Need to have her commission done by then. will work on it this later, afternoon.

Still have to do the commissionered charlote Heart Ball painting for a couple that met me at the Metrolina for $5,000.00.

Did a beautiful "The Dancer" for a doctor, 24 by 48. I am going to do another so we can use it as our logo.

House............ Big beautiful house we are getting. was planning on putting thousands into the thing as I sold commissions and on the way home I asked Mary , what my mom kept asking me and some others, what if something happens to you mary, what would happen. She said her sister would get the house and I had to deal with her. My heart just sank. I could see me four years from now with 40,000 invested in the house and me paying half the mortage, something happens to Mary, I am kicked to the curve, her sister sells the house 150k more and gets it and I am with nothing and without a place to stay. (I am pretty sure I'll probably be the first to go, but it's just the thought of that, pride, etc. Never had anything of my own. At least would be nice to be given the option to buy the house at the same terms it was bought, giving her sister their money back and I take other....... mom would sell her house and with that move in... and if I sold the house would be so nice to give a little kickback to her sister on top of mary's money.

Anyway, we've not spoken for over a day. We'll resume back to talking but my enthusiasm of getting the house, having a gallery with it, putting in 10,000 in the first three months for walls and floor repairs......ohhhhhhhhhhh.... :( .

Okay........last month, a man saw my work at the metrolina, I had bought some sotheby's books from him. He asked if I knew the artist Dimitris Chiparus. I didn't. Saw the "Starfish" had to buy it - a copy of it - and now I am doing more lady forms in the trees, much more detailed and shapely than so loosely with Lady in Red.

Kristen is back from her trip to Florida with her family. Bought her husband a little bass statue. Tomorrow have first class at Cheap Joes then going to charlotte art league for a commission consulation from a lady that had seen my paintings at black lion in Mooresville.

xxxxx
Yesterday an artist from charlotte art league came in and said she , Terry Tirrion, had gone to the New York Art Expo and said I had to go. She said have consistent style and good presentation was the key and said alot of gallery owners were going to this event and that I show get a very large booth like 5,000 and do my thing. Shelbybob? artist across from me said get a fire repelant on my banner or they would keep me out of the show. So, looks like we are going to New York, just have to visualize the $10,000 in unexpected sells to come in next month that will cover all of that so we can get in and get a spot soon as registration is available.

Monday morning.ohhhhhhhhh

Returned Saturday from Fayetteville. However, due to the international exposure and galleries that are requesting to sell my work will only allow them to be sold at certain prices, chances must be made Another thing is, if an artist puts a low price on a painting the potential buyer assumes it is value the artist appreciates it as. The time has come now to rise into the "Fine Art" realm if I am to be taken serious. I seek to become an artist working on a mission to create as many and as good a painting as I can that unveils the Divine Essence in every living thing. For years my faithful fans have contributed to my career through their purchases allowing me to continue my work. I will never forget them. I still need them. So, we will begin now step by step to inner the new phase of my career. It will move by one painting at a time. To start, gyclees will be made of "The Lady in Red," "The Loch," and "Divine Love." It will be several months for the transition to complete so now is the time to invest. Gyclees will be selling for the price of the originals. Originals will be appraised and priced by the galleries. We have small posters available now at "Stefan's Store," on this site. This new season is approaching. Now, for the "Sacred Grove." At a renaissance festival I saw a sign once that read, "Here Be Dragons." It was a ceramic store that sold dragons and knights and princesses. It seem such a dramatic title. The time has come for the Sacred Grove to be born. "Here Be the Living Spirit". Pretend you are walking along a wooded path. The day is overcast and gloomy. A mild breeze does blow. Up ahead there seems to be a soft brightening at the far end of the path. There is a glow. The sky beyond is crystal blue as the ocean's gulf stream. The colors are vibrant and alive. There's a tingle in the air. Every leaf. every blade of grass, lady bug, an opening thistle, a chirping cricket, an air borne dragonfly... all seem so filled with teeming life....and all connected as One Life, One Spirit, One loving Divine God. This is the place of paradise where joy and serenity go hand and hand. It is the place where Love reigns. It is our afterlife home, our Heaven. A painting does not enter here unless it has come from heart and soul where the Divine resides.Welcome to The Sacred Grove.Saw the Protector with Joey. Back at home. Doing a painting that was going to kind of be like Van Gogh's vase with irises, but for the background I started in the center like a sun and started going around and around and loosening up into squiggles. It looked pretty good and several people said I shouldn't put a vase over it. So instead, I am taking the line of the table and making into a bank meeting a narrow river and will have this short stubbing like trees around.Feeling something empty inside me. Canceled meeting Denise at CAL. I hate the drive from University City where I live to the road going through downtown.Had a lady call from CAL inquiring abuot doing the Loch. I asked for her contact info and she said she would email it to me. She was to commission me and of course she never sends it. God, howmany times do I hear people that say they are going to do something then never follow through, they say they are going to buy something and will be back and never show.
posted by Stefan Duncan at 10:10 PM 0 comments

posted by Stefan Duncan at 10:08 PM 0 comments

Miracle I found this. I am going to start from his first to his last. Work with them but with my own subject and style to perfect my own. I want to work hard as him and be known that I actually passed him with the amount of work. He only had 10 years to paint. But, he started a decade earlier than me. We gave Annette her painting back to do another for us.
posted by Stefan Duncan at 12:34 PM 0 comments

this is a copy and wonder how it will work.
posted by Stefan Duncan at 12:32 PM 0 comments
Tuesday, April 04, 2006

Earlier on April 1
April 1, 2006Sat. at the Metrolina Expo in Charlotte, N.C. I think I sold three paintings and three prints today. Since Jan. 1, I think I have sold about 47 paintings. Today sold one large one with a red tree on a hill, by an lake with sun rising. I sold it half price like $350.00.Mary, lady selling linen at next booth had me do a rooster for her. It was a 250.00 painting did it for her for 75.00, the lowest I've sold in over a year I think. Most of the booth people had a bad day. I am so lucky to have done as well as I have. Fourth Friday of July sold 17 paintings in two hours at Ole Town Gallery. I'm painting one painting a day. The portfolio we have of photos of some of my paintings total over 200. My goal is to have over 1,500 paintings in my life. I am going to start keeping this diary and do back ups and send to my mom I guess. I'm afraid what to write.... especially the daily life situations. Meaning... like the little spats.... like got paint on the bed so we don't talk and she don't help me at the busiest time of the year.. this show. I think I was the only person manning a spot by my self out of the hundred plus dealers. Been painting from 7:30 to 5 p.m., then several hours last night at Charlotte Art League. Did a triple canvas painting.. .red background tree... with electric blues. Entered in a jury show today at CAL with triple painting and a Trinity Lake series. It was $15.00 to enter. Going to talk to Jazz on Tuesday about doing a mural on the side of my building at North Davidson by the Little Theater. Not getting paid but figure it would be great ad for my art.Tonight, wrote the exe. editor of Fay. Observer about Milly saying she would never do an article on me because I painted too much like "you know who." I explained in depth the differences to the editor, hope I didn't wear him out. I requested they do a story on me. We'll see.
posted by Stefan Duncan at 8:30 AM 0 comments

same morning
Wed - Sunday did the Metrolina Expo. Sold over a 12 paintings. For the first couple of days seemed like I wasn't going to sell anything. It was a strange crowd. Had two people swear they were coming back. One said just going to car to get a camera to take a photo of me next to the painting.I have been looking at Ebay at Osnat and Girelli artists. They sell a dozen paintings every several days. Osnat says she sold 1,500 paintings in 3 years??? And she only started painting three years ago.... She does abstract. Wow, that is just so hard to believe that someone outdoes me. Of course it make take longer to do my impressionism scenes than her abstracts. My goal is to be America's Van Gogh, but using my own artstyle of Squigglism. I paint everyday. It costs like $30.00 a day for me to paint and to have a place at metrolina is 250.00 a month. So when I sell several paintings the money is gone. I'm the little hampster on the spinning wheel.I use acrylic paints. I do not blend my colors together but put them side by side. It is a kind of pointilism except they are squiggles than dots. Van Gogh's dashes are like simple short piano notes or if words, "wait! stop! don't! run!" while mine are like sustained piano notes. I try to express both jubilation and serenity at the same time doing strokes like musicial notes that are seen in everything that exists.
posted by Stefan Duncan at 8:17 AM 0 comments

April 4, 2006Nice day. 7:30 a.m. Waiting to see if Mary rises for us to take a walk in the park. The painting has been appraised at $10,000. All money is given to the American Heart Association.

Those interested in bidding may contact Susan Fisher, coordiantor of the Charlotte Heart Ball at Susan.fisher@heart.org .

Duncan's style is called "Squiggleism." He describes it as a Van Gogh dash with a twist. As a point is to pointilism, a squiggle is to squiggleism. There is a spirital side to this also. Most of Duncan's paintings have a source of light in them that represents the Divine. Each squiggle is a unit of the Divine.

The symbolism for "Hearts Heal" is: the light is the Divine; the three waterfalls represent the Trinity. The flowing streams are healings. The small lake or water is symbolic of our faith. The two trees can be friends or lovers (showing the importance of human compassion and love). The roots of the trees are in their "faith" - the water - absorbing the healing. The small red tree on the right of the painting represents hope.

Duncan has been called by some as one of the most prolific artists of the world. He creates and sells several hundred paintings a year. The vangoghgallery.com dubbed Duncan as becoming the American Van Gogh. He is represented by galleries around the country. He lives in Charlotte where he teaches classes mainly for the fun of it at a Michael's store and from his studio at the Charlotte Art League downtown Charlotte.
